Deadline set for completion of the QCF Syllabus
We have been informed by the awarding body, the Chartered Institute of Building, that the end date for Certification for candidates registered on the QCF syllabus will be 31st December 2017.
In March of this year 2016; the CIOB moved to the RQF syllabus for anyone registering with them after this date.
In practical terms this means that any candidate who registered with the CIOB before 31st March 2016 (not enrolled on the course); is on the QCF syllabus and has until 31st December 2017 to complete all units. This amounts to around 18 months to complete the Level 4 Certificate in Site Management or the Level 4 Diploma in Site Management or the Level 3 Diploma in Site Supervision.
For clarity; registration involved paying a fee of £100 via Gates MacBain Associates Limited and completion of the CIOB Registration form; you will have been allocated a Registration number by the CIOB.
Candidates registered with the CIOB after the 31st March 2016 will have registered on the RQF syllabus and will not be subject to the cut-off date of 31st December 2017.
The change is due to changes and updating of the in the content of the syllabus and candidates should not see too many differences. All of the study packs have been updated to reflect the requirements of the CIOB and the RQF syllabus.
For Information
In October 2015 Ofqual withdrew the Regulatory Arrangements for the QCF (Qualification Credits Framework) and replaced it with a new framework for qualifications called the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).  Ofqual following feedback considered that QCF was too prescriptive on qualification structure whereas the RQF allows more flexibility for creating qualifications.
